I am still totally amused by the term 'Derpleganger'.


Fud Lady, how are your explosively-molting hens doing? My three previously bare barred rocks have filled in their feathers nicely. I'll have to go out and get pictures of them tomorrow.

They are growing feathers in very nicely! This is a very food-centric part of the year, and I've been lucky to glean scraps off of family that are normally thrown away (eek).... the extra protein from things such as turkey scraps have really helped those feathers grow in nicely! My family has greatly reduced their waste now that I have chickens and those chickens have caused me to compost. Chickens get meaty scraps and healthy (clean) veggie scraps, and other organic scraps go right in the compost. The way it should be!

Here is Moa. She was the WORST for bad molting, and her feathers are coming in well. Comb is still a bit shrunk, though.... don't tell her that...

I will have to compare with older photos of her, once her feathers are all in full length.Right now they are sort of halfway in, so I can't tell the pattern yet! It will be interesting to see.
I know she has a few all-black feathers too, but she's had those.

The Fud Lady begs that you forgive her silly attire (she had just gotten home and wanted to visit the chickens right away) and her even sillier face.

When the chickens get let out to range, Derperella often finds the Fud Lady and flies up onto the back of her chair.
This time, the Fud Lady was wearing an Orange HAAAAAAT!

Derp has to tell the Fud Lady about HAAAAAAAT!
FUD LADY DID YOU KNOW THAT ON YOUR HEAD IS ORANGE?!
