My roos make those noises to the girls when they are laying. The moms make them to the chicks... Maybe derp has more invisible chicks?

Oh no.. this was definitely her strange response to the hawk flying over. I was watching it, too.

The other chickens make similar noises for other things, but never for hawks.

When my birds see a hawk, they disappear. Seriously, I'll look up at the sky and they are gone. They feel safe hiding under the coop.

ahhh... such bliss! i love seeing them melt in the sun! What exactly are peepers? she sure looks funny with them

from what i have read the red shoulder hawk usually goes after reptiles, frogs etc, the red tail is the one to be very aware of-

Wouldn't hot pink be a riot? Sadly you don't get to choose your color when they send them to you. The entire pack of them are blue.
