Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

Yes! The Baron has crowed twice. He looked so surprised each time! I wish I had caught it on video. He still has his baby "peep" voice (STILL!) so the crowing came out sounding like a party horn... you know the type! Like HAPPY NEW YEARS *BWOOOOOOT*

Still nasty weather... sorry, no new photos yet!

But I did manage to spend some time with Moa yesterday in the coop.

Poor, molting Moa....

Also, for those interested, I have finally finished my giant Marek's article! The link is in my signature.

Poor Moa and Willow, it seems the older hens always have a harder time molting. Also glad that Baron is praticing his crowing well, and not too much yet.

Molting or not...Moa is so pretty. I love her ruffled comb and wattles. She is much prettier than my 2 barreds....but don't tell them I said that! Of course they are actually just finishing up their molts as well.

Great article, btw!

Are you kidding! I was speechless when I fist saw your birds last year. My husband (the fud guy) and I chatted the whole ride home about how nice they were. They were so healthy, big, and lovely!

Some of my girls are having a pretty nasty molt, too, although I think I feel the worst for Diana at the moment:

(Oh, and I saw your Marek's FAQ, Nambroth! Lots of good reading there! :thumbsup I only had the chance to skim it, but I'm going to try to make time to read in more detail, especially the parts that are relevant to me and my flock.)
