How do you secure the fleece molt cape? I have a little porcelain d'uccle who is having the WOrst molt ever!
It is mostly a rectangle of fleece with rounded corners, and two slots cut where her wings go. I just slide her wings into the slots. If you look up chicken apron patterns it is much the same-- I just prefer to use fleece when they are molting, because I am not looking to protect against stompy rooster feet. I want the fabric to be soft so it doesn't chafe new pinfeathers. I once had a normal hen apron/protector on Chickadee a year ago... it is the type made of heavier canvas cloth to protect against sharp rooster feet... and it chafed her pinfeathers to the point of where it was doing more harm than good during the molting season.
I wouldn't use the cape at all except the others (mostly Moa) have learned that pinfeathers are full of blood and taste good!
