Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

There's programs that let you "virtually paint", and things called "tablets" (similar in shape to a kindle or ipad, but you use the stylus that comes with it to draw on the screen of your computer, as if the tablet was a pad of paper that only shows the drawing on your computer).

A friend of mine is also a digital artist, if you go here http://scatterbrain73.wordpress.com/2014/04/15/general-gaius-mok/ and scroll down a bit, he has an animation showing some of the process he went through to do the illustration at the top of the page.

I'm personally pretty awful at digital art, and just know enough to hurt myself or give a bad explanation to others. ;)

Well peeps, ME THREE!

Me four!!!! and im 15 :p

Yep-- digital painting is using the computer instead of physical paint.

I have a Wacom tablet.

This tablet is essentially an electronic pen or brush; it knows how hard I press with the stylus, how I am tilting it, how fast I am making my stroke, etc. It is nearly as sensitive as using a physical brush!
I also have a program called Corel Painter. This computer program mimics how real paints behave. With these two tools I can paint digitally in the same way I do with acrylic paints, but without the drying time!

Here's a video of someone that paints much the way I do. This is not my video, but an example:

With the weather finally warming up I'm sure Nambroth is crazy busy. The other day I was wondering how the flock was doing, and what new derpy things Derperalla has done.

Yes! I am trying to start about eleventy billion veggies from seed, do eight!! paintings for a show next week, prepare to teach three classes to high school age kids (I'm very nervous! I'm a shy person), make two masks, a duck stamp painting, and some commission work. Eeek!!

All on top of the mandatory chicken time, of course... :)

The good weather means more photos soon, I hope! Though we are supposed to have rain all this week and next...

So no busier than usual then, Nambroth?

I'm sure you'll be great teaching classes - I don't know why I decided to become a teacher, because I've always been painfully shy, but I've found that the more passionate you are about your subject, and the more you enjoy it yourself, the better the classes go; The kids will pick up on your enthusiasm, and will respond to it. Are you teaching about painting, or chickens, or painting chickens?

Good luck from me as well in all this year's endeavors. I betcha your giant chicken paintings would be a great ice breaker in class as well. I am also looking forward to the future year be it this one, or in twenty years of you winning the duck stamp competition and winning it multiple times like the three hautman brothers. Maybe you will even end up becoming selected to judge future duck stamp competitions and influence future generations on how they paint water fowl, and poultry.

Ooh! You should bring out the "Thunderous Tides" painting and calmly discuss (with a straight face!) all the techniques involved in it while your students just stare...
