Good luck Fud Lady with your show! It is a shame Derp doesn't pay so well. Derp earings, anyone?Derp is doing okay! I let the girls out every night for free ranging. Derp is growing back her head feathers, slooo--ooowly. She is missing her entire beard and muffs, thanks to Lorp. For some reason, Lorp decided that she was going to go out of her way to cause all the other chickens grief (except Moa, who is Boss Hen). Lorp has always been a diva and a bit full of herself, but this was too much. We got her a set of pinless peepers and now everything is calm again.
I brought home two new chicks to replace the ones I lost last year (RIP Loaf, the cochin... and fare thee well in your new home Gullin, the Rooster). They are Easter Eggers.. I love the beard and muffs, but I know now that more faverolles in my mixed flock might not be happy. I found someone locally that ordered a bunch of them from Cackle and she let me buy two.
Here's a little video clip of one of them having its first 'dust bath' on the carpet at 6 days old.
I'm sorry I haven't had any updates. I like to wait until I have some photos of Derperella to share, and I have been so busy it's hard to find time to breathe. I have several big shows coming up, and one is this weekend as part of an open studio tour. I am really nervous! I paid a lot to get in and show my art and jewelry. Lets hope it goes well!
