Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

Hi Pipzip!

Derp's twisted skull came on gradually. We didn't know it was happening until she was at least 5 weeks old, when I looked at her head on and studied photos of her I was thinking, "Gosh is her... is her skull crooked? No, it's just an illusion from the cheek poofs." ... but sure enough it WAS crooked! It's not major, but you can tell if you look at her head-on.

Thank you for the list! It's awesome, I'll use it for now since this thread is sooo long!

You may call me Kristin. ;) Or, if it saves confusion, Pipd works for me as well.

Anyway, thank you for the response! I will keep a close eye on Iddy Biddy in the mean time and hope that things don't get any worse. It's a relief anyway to read about Derp living such a happy, mostly-normal life. At least I shouldn't have to worry about Biddy suffering if her skull twists any further. (I have confirmed a very slight twist, by the way, but I have yet to get a picture that shows it very well. :/ )

come on guys wake up - this thread is getting stale. Everyone can't be melting in the heat (today we are supposed to be 100-104) so I have an excuse. draw some more Derp pictures, do something.

Thank you Hudok
She's..... well.. unique. At least in my flock. Everyone else just sort of goes about their chicken business but Candy has to comment on everything!
When everyone is scratching around looking for missed seeds, busy but quiet - Candy is humming to herself the whole time and everytimg she finds something she gives this tiny little 'honk', then goes back to humming along. When I go out to check on them before bed, everyone is up on the roost and there is a little shuffeling and maybe a couple of clucks - except for Candy. "bock, bock, bock, hurrrrrrr, bok-bok-bok-bok-bok-bok, peep, whistle, hurrrrrrr..." She is so funny. I walk into the coop and everyone turns to look at me (checking to see if anything is in my hands I'm sure) but Candy has to run over "BOK-bok-bok-bok-bok, hurr, hurrRRRRrrrrrrup, cluck, cluck, hurrrrr-rrr". And if I'm squatting down or bending over for any reason in the pen, I can be sure I'm going to get a Candy-hat.

I can't wait to see what color eggs she lays.

I'm jealous! Candy sounds like TOO MUCH FUN! Us humans sure are lucky when we get blessed with a "special" bird, and Candy is FOR SURE one of them! :love
