Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

Not this year, but I may have some next year. After losing a big part of my flock to the feral cats here(I have been trapping them since) and hatching a ridiculous number of roos this year(1 hen, 5 roos on last hatch) I only have 1 bantam faverolle hen that I want to use for breeding and she is still too young to lay. I had the big guys longer and just recently gotten into the bantams. I am currently not NPIP certified either and it's illegal to ship in most states without, but I will get certified in the spring, which shouldn't be a problem, since all my birds are from NPIP hatching eggs.
You can check out the faverolles thread on byc. There are many people that have some amazing birds on there.
Here is proof of my roo hatching abilities, look at all those red combs on there guys, as cute as they are, I wish I could hatch some hens for a change :he

I was reading in another thread about ACV being feed to livestock including chickens to get more females. Something about the PH levels. It's worth a try :)

Well these guys hatched from eggs that all came from different breeders, so that's not something I control, but I will try that with my guys next year, though between free ranging and pawpaw feeding my birds corndogs when I am at work, they get a pretty varied diet.

I am very sad.....

I need to rehome my faverolle cockerel, Handsome Boy..... he is just starting to crow in the am & the neighbors are already complaining about him. What really annoys me is the fact that the neighbors complained to my kids & not directly to me.
I don't even hear him crowing & I am closer to the coop than my neighbors are....go figure!
Here is Handsome Boy from this past weekend. He is free to a good home & not freezer camp/soup pot. I'll even deliver him to central Mass.

If you are allowed chickens, and roosters, I wouldn't get rid of him. If you can insulate to sound proof your coop, not let him out till later in the day... I love my boys... I couldn't imagine having to give them up because one neighbor complained to your children.

He is super lovely too.

I agree with Nova Aman don't give him up - at least not yet. If the neighbors told your kids rather than confronting you, they are a bunch of wimps. He is really handsome.

Maybe get something that is even louder, a non-stop barking dog, a cat in heat, a racecar that needs constant tuning or a very loud breed roo(my Cornish guys are obnoxious, I highly recommend those for noise), then if they say something give the louder one away and they will be happy that you only have the Fav roo. Just an idea

I'm technically not supposeed to have a roo cuz I don't have the land , but both neighbors next to me can have roos cuz they have 1.5+acres....stupid town rule. I might try creating him at night in the basement as I don't have a garage.....if the dh will let him in the house!
