Desperate! Why did no one tell me this about chickens?

Ooh, ooh! If the other person doesn't want them, I'll take 'em! YAY! MORE CHICKIES!

Love It... Breakfast every day. True about kids. Call me a feminazi but I have a real problem when women say "My husband wont let me..." makes me sick. Don't get me wrong it goes both ways. people need to compromise.

Yeah, I did find a taker in my area. And I don't believe in allowing a man to dictate your life either. BUT unfortunately, this is his house and he was resistant in getting the chickens to begin with, without having acreage to keep them on. Surprisingly, when I told him this morning I was getting rid of them, he felt bad and suggested I try keeping the 2 quiet ones, the Americaunas. I feel bad for being wishy-washy but I just now emailed the lady to see if she'd mind just taking just 2 today, as I wanted to see if I could make it work with the other 2. I am worried though that they may be lonely without a flock to hang out with, as I started out with 5. Any thoughts?

I would give it a shot. Keep 2. You could always drive them over to the lady later if it didn't work out.

My DH is a neat-freak, but we have a deal that he can have the front yard decisions and I get the backyard decisions. So the backyard is organic and the front gets fussed over. But the peeps only free-range when I'm home playing in the garden. And he will let them out if I'm not there. They only go out for an hour or so every evening, so they don't fuss the rest of the time.

And I think it's good that he felt bad and offered a compromise. That's what life is all about, and will help if kids ever enter the picture, too.

I think if they have at least one other bird to hang out with they'll be fine.

So sorry you have to go through this! I can't imagine not having my chickens. They're my theraphy, I have four kids - and at the end of the day when they've sat down to watch TV, I go out and sit on my bench and watch them. NOthing like watching chickens scratch around, talk to you and enjoy their treats at the end of the day.

Good Luck, hope it works out!

I'm going to try that with these, just let them out once for a short period of time so they don't expect it several times a day, as I did before. I just don't know why this problem seemed to get out of control overnight. I hope the 2 don't get lonely.

The most I've ever had at one time was 3. And I'm lucky that my DH bent enough for me to be able to keep them...
He understands that they make me happy and that he's got computers to make him happy and chickens don't cost anywhere as much as chickens. Thank the Gods.

But I have a kid also and he makes more of a mess than the chickens do, though...LOL
I'm a clutterer, but getting better. My house isn't Martha perfect, but it's homey. Clean, but not neat.
I'm glad that you're gonna try just the two. My EE wasn't loud, but she'd sing to herself all day. I miss Tom...

They'll have each other to hang out with, so they shouldn't be lonely.
Glad that you didn't take what I said the wrong way, Biretta...I only speak from experience...My DH is 17 years older than me, and I'll be 43 next month. And I'm his first marriage. LOL He puts up with my idiosynchracies when I know other guys might've been like you brought home WHAT?!
