lol -- not like it didn't cross my mind...that's what i need -- my 15 minutes of fame being on americas most wanted running with a trailer full of peacocks..lol (and ty for that) .. honestly -- if there's the OFF chance that they were to come back positive at a later testing, i wouldn't be able to look myself in the mirror, knowing that i spread it....... i wish they gave me the consideration and options that were first promised.. can you believe our government would actually LIE?? i'm digusted...

"Can you believe our government would actually LIE ?? " Yea I can ,,they have been doing it more than once every day ,but that is what we voted for . Not Me. connerhills

Let me see if I understand what has happened.
John bought some peafowl eggs from a person in South Dakota.
That seller also had sold some quail eggs and somehow they were tested and came back positive for Avian Influenza?
That seller had to turn over all sales records to the authorities?
They in turn contacted Virginia officials and they came to see John?
Johns birds and eggs were tested and they came back negative.
Including the pea eggs he bought?
And they still want to destroy his entire flock?

I started a thread about the ban Kansas has on all public poultry shows, exhibits, auctions, swap meets, etc. They do not say anything about eggs, I wonder if eggs are a problem why we haven't banned them as well.

The crazy part is that his birds already tested negative!

Perhaps there is an incubation period, if this is the case then keeping the flock would be out of the question , they are not going to wait and see if anything happens this stuff is serious.

I really hate that you are going threw this, really sad and sad for all the other folks that have lost their flocks because of this AI , trying to control it on the ground is the best they can not stop the migrating water fowl that can pass it every where they go and not be effected by it. i thanks god my dogs run off anything trying to come in to the ponds.

you got it --makes more sense in your words, ty ... and yes the swabs and samples taken from the birds and eggs are ALL NEGATIVE... the swabs from 4 incubators are still waiting-- they probably have those today

thats exactly it ---- the eggs i bought COULD be fomites....the incubation period is 3 days to 2-3 weeks.....

.. i'm on day 10 of the second batch of eggs i bought and day 6 with the second batch..... my birds are healthy.... QT is soo simple to do here --- if they're putting my birds down... they technically could put ME down under their same protocol... "I" would be more likely to have it than my birds...

.... they also said songbirds don't carry

-- and this BLOWS MY MIND -- they will let start repopulating in as early as a month, ***???

i get that ...in speaking with a few of the people (from usda and va doa who have been here, most agree that it's a political move... odds are that if i had it, something would have surfaced by now...

the response in email i received in a from the lady i got the eggs from, basically begging for help and insight:
"
Dear johnskoi,

only thing that has tested positive was guineas and chicken.
USDA is advising use to have you talk to your state vet. As we do not know all the answers to your questions. This is new to use too. Sorry for your troubles, but this is a had time for us too. If you have receipts for your expense (eggs or Chicks), the state vet will help get you get indemnity.
here is a link to the list of state vets. http://www.usaha.org/Portals/6/StateAnimalHealthOfficials.pdf
Sorry for all troubles this may cause.
