destruction and disposal orders HELP

You'll never guess who came knocking on our door today - Saturday - Our yearly Animal Control uniformed agent (looked like a Sheriff with badge and all) tracking down every house asking how many dogs were in the households. I told him I didn't have any dogs and in fact am putting up a fence to keep the stray neighborhood mutts off my lawn. He was amused and went on his way with clipboard in hand. Half the front lawns in our neighborhood are fenced and locked so I wonder how many households he reached. He didn't bother asking about neighbor dogs and I didn't volunteer info.

wow, I guess california has much more money to waste on such things now ?

How is John doing ?
Is anyone coming over (to John's) to do weekly testing or what ?
Swabbing all those birds has to be hard on the birds (and John) !
Stress like that can make birds sick or traumatized.
I had NPIP ask if I wanted to do the weekly (voluntary at my point) AI swab testing, and I said no, cuz each bird has to be caught, tested, released, and all the birds have to be tested, making marking them mandatory (so you do not keep catching the same birds over & over) and especially difficult if you have alot of the same breed, same colored birds.

I did the same thing in Calif, not poultry, but ended up filing quarterly, etc etc etc
NPIP is doing a great job, but in some states, maybe a bit too much, as in John's case, a perfect example.
I can see Severely infected states like Minnesota , Iowa, maybe South Dakota...their officials there may be at the stage that they are taking no prisoners....they are looking FORWARD to see where the next outbreak MAY HAPPEN.......................which is intelligent !
BUT, if the birds tested Negative, then they need to step back & watch, isolate (no coming & no going) of the suspects' fowl...and watch.
I disagree totally with them killing any fowl distant from someone that later tested positive.

Speaking of positive: Does anyone have any info on the Quail egg facility (where John got shipped quail eggs from ) ?? Did THEY kill all fowl on their premises ? Any news reports ?

also, it's my understanding that they had ALL of their birds put down... (i'm thankful every morning that i'm awakened by my screaming peas --- i'd hate to wake up to silence...)

.. and while i probably would've felt the NPIP sucked if my birds were put down, right now i'm extremely grateful that they're there...

.. to anyone still ordering eggs -- make SURE that the people you're buying from are not only NPIP, but also AI compliant....i personally won't be selling any eggs until 2016 which will give me ample time to make sure i do things right --- had i not run into the issues that i have, i'd still be in my own little world --- and though i 'dodged the bullet' this time, i don't know how long my luck would've held out... (at the VERY least, WASH your eggs if you're still buying -- it just may be what saved my behind...)

no further testing (to my knowledge) since samples and eggs were taken on 6/11 ... i agreed to let them know IMMEDIATELY if ANYTHING seemed wrong... i've been in contact with either VA DOA or USDA every few days... (USDA was here 2 or 3 days ago).... honestly, my birds have NEVER been healthier (which isn't how my luck usually runs) ... LOL ... testing WILL be done sometime around July 4th along with a game plan to move forward ... and it will probably be THE most intensive (and i honestly hope it is at this point) ... when i sell my next egg, i want to feel good about it -- taking orders NOW!! --- (that was meant in fun
