We had the same problems when they started laying. Our feed was balanced but only 16% protein. Our French neighbor, who keeps a large flock, told us to give them cheese for extra protein. After a few days of grated emmental cheese they stopped eating the eggs. I suppose that, knowing the French and their love of cheese, it seemed a natural answer but it worked! I know it’s not ideal but I prefer to get an organic feed, sent over from the U.K., than some of the layer food I’ve seen here in France. At least I know I just have to add more protein than wonder what chemicals are included in the French produce.

Probably less than here in the US.
Cheese = animal protein = good, in moderation due to salt content.
