I just finished watching Bird Brain, and I liked it, I thought it was interesting. They mentioned that parrots may seem smarter because they have a longer lifespan, so they have more time to learn things, and I'm not sure how much I agree with that. While it would mean they have more time to learn things, I don't think that it would necessarily make them seem more intelligent per se, e.g. better at problem solving. That's because I think the more fluid part of their intelligence peaks at a certain age, and then declines as they get older, while the more "crystallized" intelligence which is what they have previously learned continues to grow, albeit at a slower rate when they get older, due to the decline in fluid intelligence.
I guess I just haven't felt like it.
