I thought I might get my car detailed. Is there anything I should know? Do those mobile units do a good job? Should I go to a shop to get it done? I know nothing about it. But my care needs a face lift!

- Detailing originated from the paint and body shop industry and was often used in high-end car show events by owners of fine automobiles.
- From here, professional detailing was born and became a major factor in the final outcome of any car show event.

In the early 70's I had a buddy who owned a used car lot. If he got a high-end automobile that was really rough he would send it to the detailers who would keep it for a week or more and when it came back it looked showroom fresh. They would replace or replate any damaged chrome, shampoo and even redye the upholstery. Whatever was needed to make it look like new, they did. As you can imagine it was a costly process, but considering the value on the used market of a trashed out luxury vehicle versus one that looked to be in good shape it was worth it.
