We got 2 Easter Eggers and 2 Wellsummer on April 25th. We don’t know how old they were at the time... I suspect anywhere from 7-12 days but their feathers seem more mature... they have been outside 10 daylight hours per day in their run in temps between 75-90 for about 6 days now and start chirping just when it’s starting to get dark so I bring them in

. They have not had heat lamp on in their brooder for 8 nights now (house is kept at 77). It’s about 64 outside over night these next few nights. Any thoughts on how old they appear to be and how soon they can stay in their coop overnight?

They look to be around 8 weeks to me. They are ready to stay out. Expect some complaints those first night. You will have to put them to bed probably.

Once they are fully feathered they should be fine outside at night especially at those temps. Your's look old enough to do so, they will probably enjoy being outside!! My chicks always "pig pile" on each other at night. They look around 4 weeks give or take.

Thank you! They did great! Yes, I did have to catch each one to get them in to their coop and put on the roosting bar. They only pitched a fit for about 15 minutes and then silence! I'm going to leave them in their coop for 2 days so they can learn to go back in there at night. Thanks for your feedback!

Thank you! They did great! Yes after I put them on the roosting bar they all jumped down and got in a big pile and quieted down within 15 minutes. I'm leaving them in the coop the next 2 days so we can work on them knowing to go back in at night. Thanks for your thoughts!
