Is this the age that I should be able to tell whether I have pullets or cocks? They are definitely feathering differently. I have two that seem to be much slower than the others. Somewhere I read that if you lay them on their back and they tuck their legs, they are girls and if they stick their legs out they are boys. I tried this and the same two that are slower to feather, stuck their legs out. This morning my daughter swears that one of those two has red on his comb...Can I say with pretty good certainty that they are boys? I'm going to post pics tomorrow, but didn't want to wait. One is a bantam cochin (I think) and the other from the Pullet Mix at TSC.

you should be able to....I can tell day1 with a 90% accuracy ...but then I was taught how to vent sex.

Is that something that you could explain? Or is it took much to try and do a written explanation? I know I am not the only one that would love to know how to do that. ;o)

The whole "kicking or not kicking" thing is urban legend. People get all mixed up, do it completely differently or oppositely and then claim they were correct. Sure thing.

3-4 weeks the cockerels may be starting to grow larger and redder combs. Usually they are slower to feather.

This is the same chick...Reggie or Regina depending on pullet or cockeral?

Do you think he's a boy or girl??????

That's what I thought too, but I wanted to make sure!! Here's the 2nd chick that is either Max or Maxine!!

So, can you tell yet if this is Max or Maxine????
