I know it might not be possible but personally I would move. (Take you, your ducks, your family and all your business elsewhere!)

The city officials sound like they just don’t care and are making excuses to undermine their own laws. Add a bad neighbor and you’re going to keep having problems no matter what you do.

I hate places like that! It’s a darned if you do darned if you don’t situation.
I hope everything works out for the best!:hugs

Words cannot begin to describe my devastation in writing this post. My town allows waterfowl as long as the surrounding neighbors are not disturbed. My horrible neighbors called and complained because their dog started digging in their garden to tunnel under the fence, and now the town is making me re-home my babies.

I plan to put this off as long as they will allow me, but I do not want the town to take them. I just know they will do something horrible to them.

I am looking for a nice home for my babies. Three pekin and one blue-runner. I believe one pekin and the one blue runner are girls, and that the other two pekin are boys. They are just over six weeks old now. Healthy, beautiful babies. Growing like weeds. They love snuggles, they love swimming, they're curious little buggers.

These are my babies. My first duckies I have ever owned. I hatched them from brand new eggs, and have raised them with every ounce of love in my heart. I didn't know I could fall so deeply in love with these little guys, especially in such a short time.

I do not want them to be butchered. I do not want them eaten or abused. I want them safe, I don't want their eyes to be pecked out by others. These are my babies. I can't imagine not protecting them every day.

Ideally I would like to keep them together, but I understand if that is not do-able for you. View attachment 1536294 View attachment 1536295 View attachment 1536296

Please let me know if you or anyone you know would want to adopt these little angels. No cost at all, and all of the current supplies I have will be given to you alongside the little guys.

I live in MA, but am willing to travel a bit if needed.

Please let me know ASAP. The sooner I tell the town, the sooner they will get off my back, and hopefully I will get an extra few days with my guys.
But your ducks aren't the problem their dog is. Is there anyway you can talk to law enforcement and tell them that the problem is their dog causing problems not your ducks. Initial consultation don't usually cost anything
I would definitely talk to someone.

Unfortunately i have been back and forth with my neighbors and the city for a couple weeks now. I have a place in Rhode Island i could move to but I'm not allowed to have ducks at all there since its part of a condo association. I moved here because of it. Im hoping i can convince my cousin to raise ducks rather than chickens (they plan to get chickens in the spring) and maybe they could take them. I just love these little guys and want them to have the world, not be taken away from it!!!!

Damn, I live in NY and wish we could take them for you. They're precious. I think you should keep fighting - so long as you're challenging it and no final decision has been made, they can't make you get rid of them. Appeal, appeal, appeal... as far as you can/have to.

I would find a home they could potentially go to if you for some reason were to lose, but honestly if you pushed the issue - and things are as you describe them and as I'm reading here - you couldn't lose. All it would take is a dog trainer to testify that dogs dig if they're going to dig regardless and a wildlife official to verify that coyotes/raccoons/etc have always existed in the area - if a judge even let a stupid case get so far without telling them to shove it

I am a dog trainer by profession. If the dog is digging it is going to keep digging until the people train it to either stop or dig in a place they appoint. If it is a rat terrier it is not even likely after the ducks but a mole, vole, or some other member of the rodent family that is either living in their garden or around it. Terriers were meant to go after rats and rodents it is hardwired in their dna. Just like herding anything that moves is in a border collie or Australian Shepherd.
