Don't know what would just kill them all and leave them? One momma duck was on her nest dead. Game Warden has been called and he's trying to figure this out. Others told me it must have been an owl??

The size of the Wire you used allows many predators in. Weasels, squirrels, possom,etc. I would recommend 1/2 inch hard cloth. The name is deceiving. Hardcloth can be found at box hardware stores. Hardcloth is metal with a half inch grid. Very protective

Real sorry for your loss. That's tragic. That's a good start, but the openings in that cattle panel are too large for some predators plus predators could dig under the frame. Can you build a shelter inside that can be secured at night? As you can see from my avatar, that's what I've done. At dark I go out, collect eggs, make sure that the door which works on a light sensor has lowered, and do a head count. Mine is a hoop house frame covered with plastic and is only there to give them shelter from rain or snow. The protection from predators is provided by the coop. I did lose one hen to a daytime aerial attack while they were free ranging in the orchard in which they are located. One hen taken, one wounded hen survived. I thought they would return, but apparently, the wounded hen put up enough of a fight that they decided to go for easier pickings. I've added two bantam roosters now so the hens will have some warning in the future of possible attacks.

Racoons will simply chew the heads off, weasels will take a whole chicken, possums and other small varmits are vicious

Sorry I'm rambling on, it too quiet now, my son and I are very distraught. There has been a bird dog reported running loose, that's what I shot at in the goats area. Will they do this to chickens and ducks?

Dogs, you need to tell owners you will kill if they are not contained, plus owe you for your losses

So, so, so sorry this happened to you...Yes, a dog who has a strong prey instinct and hasn't been taught not to bother them will take sport in killing every last one of a flock of chickens. They will kill goats too, very easily and quickly.

If I electrified the coop/hoops/chicken wire, would the chickens get shocked if they were to grab a grasshopper? Feet on ground, beak on grasshopper, grasshopper on chicken wire.

I have had no issues with the birds getting zapped. their feathers are good insulators. This is my fence charger and if anyone touches the wires they will hurt.

My niece had a couple of pit bulls. They attacked a horse. One was shot and killed on the spot but the other ran off. My niece had to take the other in and it was euthanized because the horse was so badly injured it had to be put down.

Many years ago I was out of town and my neighbor was watching my two Siberian huskies. They got loose, killed a neighbor’s cow and wounded a couple others. My homeowner’s insurance paid $1.05 per pound for each cow.

I'm so sorry this happened. I know how you feel. I will say that looks pretty good BUT, not to be negative, weasels will get in there without any trouble. Probably raccoons too and they are both major chicken predators! Foxes could dig under the edge very quickly also.
