I'm kind of in a bind at the moment. I know my girls have worms, and at the moment I'm literally watching them worse by the day, I'm anxiously waiting to be paid so I can get them dewormer. The question is, I have dewormer, safeguard, but its 5 months expired. Should I take the risk and give it to them or chance it and wait? I'm really stressing about this, any info would be greatly appreciated. I cant bare to watch them like this, they look miserable. I feel horrible.

I would use it as 5 month is not that much and I would expect it to work just as well. If anything at all, maybe the effect might be somewhat reduced so maybe give a bit more.

What kind of safeguard do you have, liquid or powder?

I have the liquid 10% demwormer

Well, usually the products have to be viable for 6 more month after the expiration date.

With powder it would have been even more.
Any tips? I have a bird who is gasping, obviously having breathing distress but she keeps eating, and won't drink. I tried dipping her beak in, and dripping water on her beak but she still won't drink. I watched her for over an hour and all she did was eat, and gasp. I managed to get her to drink a small mouthful but nothing else.

SafeGuard should be given orally to each chicken 1/4 ml per pound or about 1.25 ml for a 5 pound chicken. If you put it in their water, it will settle out and they will not get a correct dose.
