Fern my broody hen has three chicks who are roughly two weeks old. Basically I saw a wiggling worm in one of Fern’s fresh droppings, I watched it for more than a second to confirm it was a worm. Should I wait for the chicks to grow up and then treat them all? Is dewormer safe for such young babies? Currently my older chickens (who are separate) are on a natural herb dewormer which I do twice a year. If needed they will get an actual dewormer. If anyone could help that would be great! I also have a few more questions related to worms! Is deworming dangerous because it could cause a blockage? How can you tell if your chickens have too many worms? Is it dangerous for baby chicks to have worms or normal? Does apple cider vinegar help even a little bit? Thanks again! The picture below is of the natural dewormer, which I would use for the baby chicks if needed and safe.

Was it a Roundworm?

I'd get some Valbazen and treat Fern. Dose is 0.08ml per pound of weight given orally once, then repeated in 10days.

2week old chicks are too young to deworm, but Mama needs to be treated.

Thanks you! Should I go ahead and treat the other chickens? Or do you think the natural dewormer did anything?

Treat all your chickens with Valbazen. Two week old chicks are too young to have worms. You can worm them at 6 weeks old if you wish.

I just watched an old farmer say to use lye, yes lye, the drain declogger. He said the Amish and his great grandparents and his parents all did it too. The youtube video is one by Poopa's Farm, titled Deworming your Livestock can be easy cheap and natural. Try it.

I used lye many years ago to worm hogs.
I know lye can be used for chickens, however there are more safe wormers that can be used. It's my personal choice.
