I noticed tiny worms in my chickens poop today. I’m preparing to deworm my whole flock and happen to have safeguard goat dewormer on hand. What is the egg withdrawal period? Also, I have silkies as well as standard breed chickens. What’s the dosage for both bantam and standard? I’m aware it’s given orally. My chickens have had diarrhea for some time and I’m thinking this is why. Pics of some of my cute silkies

I'm sorry I don't know anything about Safeguard but wanted to put my 2 cents in. Since I had a pretty bad worm infestation several years back, I used a no longer available dewormer to knock them down and have since used Now brand green black walnut wormwood complex. I put 10 drops in a gallon drinker for a full week every other month and have not had any more issues. I hope someone with knowledge of Safeguard can be of more help.

Could you provide a link to this?

Do be careful, that is a poison. I'd recommend a fecal float from the vet to verify worm load.

Makes no difference what breed they are.
The dose is calculated by weigh of the bird.

Are you SURE you didn't see tapeworm segments in the poop?
Safe-Guard will not treat tapeworms.

There was a comment on my post that it is a poison, but in my mind, so are all the dewormers. If you choose this route, start with a few drops and add a couple more drops every couple of days so the die off isn't too much at once. Do some research on the product and see what you think. I don't want to offer bad advice, I just try to go the natural route whenever possible.

I was thinking they meant a link to info/study about how it supposedly kills worms.
