After spending many hours one here searching the deworming sections recently, it occurred to me that it would be super handy, especially for the newbies, to have a chart of the parasite, symptoms, dewormer to use, and how much, egg withdrawl times, etc. I realize it would be a monumental task, but if anyone felt like tackling it, would be pretty awesome. Or if anyone even knows of a site that has such a chart?

Yes, you are right, it is EXTREMELY confusing. Especially as there are worms that are never even mentioned here such as gizzard worms, cecal worms, capillaria worm, etc...and everyone seems to have different advice as to how to treat. I think one problem is that there are different philosophies about how to deal with worms. And roundworm and tapeworm seem to be the only readily identifiable ones.

You're absolutely correct chookchick. Wormers like ivermectin and fenbendazole kill alot of the other worms ie capillary, gizzard worms etc... the labeling usually states what they kill but you need a cryptologist to translate it and a lawyer to understand it lol.

I've been looking on this site for a deworming chart & schedule as mentioned above. Is there one and I've just missed it? Thanks!!

Please, chicken keepers, help us get organized and get a nice list together for meds for each nasty worm our poor chooks get.

A little dramatic, but, hey it's fun!

Thats why I was just on here--searching for this!!!

As of this am I started treating my girls again with ivermectin pour on! its only been 2-3 months since last treatment-I scrubbed the coops down from head to toe yesterday and there's so Much DE all over you'd swear pilbury exploided in there and yet when I picked up one of my hens this am I looked just to see and boom theres those crawly stinking bugs near her vent-so all the birds I could catch got treated again! Is this normal anyone?? This is the first time I ve had to deal with this garbage!

Yes i put the pouron right on skin as I know if it goes on feathers it useless-but I feel defeated now:-(

For lice/mites I sprinkle Sevin in the nests and on the floors then spray each poor chickey vent with Adams flea & tick spray (get them under the wings too - UNTIL WET) All gone fairly quick. Good luck!

PS. Chicken lice gross me out-EWWWW!!!! We've had them every stinkin' spring!
