Deworming

Oh wow!! I'm so nervous to do that lol.. I read where I can dilute it with water and leave it out for 2 days instead of 1 like the waking. Thats what I'm most comfortable using but according to my feed store its no longer available 😢
It's very easy to dose them, honestly. I was nervous about it, too, but I way prefer it over treating in food or water. If I dose them directly, I KNOW they get the entire dose.

I just hold the chicken in my lap with its head away from me. Big birds get tucked under my arm like a football, but you can just sort of hold the tiny ones in one hand. I sometimes wrap them in a towel if a bird is particularly jumpy.

I kind of pry their beaks open with a fingernail and put the meds in their mouths (NOT the throat). They eat it right up. Some birds shake their heads, but you can gently hold their heads, if you need.

Now I use the syringe to get the dose of the pastes, empty the syringe on my index finger and kind of scrape the paste off on their beak and right into their mouths.

And I give them just 1 ml. Omgoodness there's no way I can over dose them? I'm super scary lol
No. As instructed in Post#2 Safeguard is dosed by weight. You need to weigh your birds so you know the correct dose. For Seramas 1ml is likely too much. Weigh your birds.

Many people use Valbazen 1/2 ml given orally (0.08 ml per pound) and repeated in 10 days. Others use SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer 1/4 ml per pound of weight given orally for 5 days. Those will treat mist types of chicken worms except for tapeworms.
