Deworming

My chickens are only a little over a year old and do I need to DE worm them routinely and what do I use.

DE wont treat worms. It's best to use a benzimidazole such as Safeguard liquid goat wormer or Valbazen liquid cattle/sheep wormer.
When and how often to worm your birds depends on your environment. Wet warm or moist soil will require frequent wormings. Cold/cool, dry soil less frequent wormings.
Of course you can take a fresh fecal sample to a vet and have it looked at under a microscope for worm eggs.
