DH and son saying turkeys are too stupid

ivan3, that is a really interesting picture! I can't say that I have ever seen them stand like that in the rain, then again in a storm like that I would probably be running for cover instead of taking pics of the turkeys in the rain.

I appreciate your recognition of my apparent `dedication' Alas, I must admit to being but a wimpy observer with dry feathers:

That really is an awesome picture though! If that is how they stand in the rain, it really can explain where the tale started.

Our turkey stays out in the rain sometimes. We have a white holland and we love her so much. She is the favorite bird in the yard and has to be with us if we are in the yard working on something. She'll stand beside us while we dig in the garden and wait for treats from us. Turkeys are incredibly addictive though. We just bought twelve more white hollands to start our own flock of heritage birds. They are so curious about everything around them but they can be somewhat fragile as youngsters so be prepared to pamper them until they are a couple of months old at least. Have fun and enjoy!!

I agree with Frosty as well and CochinBrahmaLover I think they have a mind and personality other birds don't .
All of my land is behind the house and the Turkeys are so friendly that I still have to watch them because if people down the road decide to jog and only seem to do this down hill and during cool weather they walk back up but any way the other day a couple decided to jog down the hill and the Turkeys were free ranging and spotted the couple running and took out after them gobbling all the way I had to chase after them herd them back you should have seen the joggers eyes they got big as dinner plates and picked up there pace.
