DH just took my chicks to put under broody**update** with pics!

I hope she accepts them. She hatched 5 chicks just 3 days after mine hatched in the incubator. That will make 11 chicks under her. She's a really good momma with hers....

I'de like to know how it goes too... I have 2 batam broodies with a total of 4 chicks....I would like to give them some (hatched the same day) but I am worried about giving them too many.

It's Ok. He slipped them in last night and all were OK this morning. He has been letting them out to free range with the momma and she is taking really good care of them. If any other chicken gets close she whollops them. When I called in for a report this morning, DH said you can tell the new chicks; they don't know not to stand behind her when she scratches in the dirt yet...

I'll go see for myself after work and report further; maybe a pic or two, too...

Everything is great! She is such a good momma. The other chickens got close and one took a investigative peck and momma was right there quick. We watched them play and then DH picked up the chicks, put them in the bucket (nest) and put it back in the coop. Momma went right in and settled down with them. So cute! Remember, she was a rescued hen that someone dumped off on our country road. Here a couple of pics:

What a sweet mommy. Glad it went well! Was her damage to her rear done before you got her? The other chickens don't bother it? I'm so glad she has you to rescue her.
