diarrhea but no other problems?

So I came home this evening to find one of the girls (I'm thinking my problem chick) had either been picking at her wing, or was being packed and had it opened a bit. Thing is I dont know if she did it because its right where her new feathers are coming in, or if the others did it to her. I put some ointment on it and plan on watching it. Thanksfully I'm home pretty much the next two days to watch things. The diarrhea seems to have increased, but it's not anymore watery. Got the apple cider vinegar tonight on the way home, but I still don't know how much to use? And I think tommorrow is going to be a completely clean out the litter and feed containers days instead of just layering it. Is it safe to used bleach on their containers or just water and dish soap? Thanks again to everyone for your patience, etc.

since I have the need to bump this yet again, I finally got some pictures of this poop....

they're all the same poop, just different pics bc none of the pics actually looked like they do in real life completely.

so should I be worried? or doing something differently?

Ny feeling is that the chicks are too hot
you should dro[ the heat 5 degrees each week
do they have some ventilation?
not a draft but new air coming into their area?

Alsao you did not say if they ere in a chicken coop or in a vrooder?

If you keep seeing this chicken with runny manure I would venture to say she may need some help
Is it possible to take the bird and sample of her manure to a vet?

If she get listless and does not eat she may have coccidiosis
or may be worms
I never had young chickens be wormy
we hatched 3500 chicks a yr for decades so I really believe they are too hot
as she still eats.

Also I think you are distrbing the bedding too much
I would always clean up under the waterer and if there was a lot of manure in one place
thenadd some new beding
Too clean of an area makes them start all over getting used to their old bedding
you can be too clean

Yes chicks do try to get the shaft off new feathers

the manure doesn't look that watery
I think they are too hot
let me know
I can never find the post again so email me PM and I will try and help you

I think your worrying unnecessaryily
A sick chicken does not eat

Well, I would LOVE if that were the case...only problem is...they are only 2.5 weeks old and already I am keeping their temps between 76 and 80...they seem to like it cooler than the typical textbook 5degrees a week... but I feel like if I make it too much cooler already it'll be too cold for them.

They are in a brooder in my house/basement where we live and its normally about 68 in the room.
They have ventillation...they're in a very large clear rubbermade container, but the entire lid is cut out with mesh screen...plenty of airflow (and incidentally as their playing increases plenty of dust I'm finding out :) )
No vet in my area that takes care of poultry (which is dum bc I live in a basically farming community)
I too don't think it's cocci because she's still eating and drinking and playing...just less playing than the rest. As far as worms, I couldn't see any worms in her poo, but then again I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking for. I'm also wondering, I got them at 10 days old, but they were inside in a brooder, and I've never had them outside...how would they get worms or cocci?
We also stopped changing the bedding daily on saturday and have just been adding a little bit since then...now today we're due for a full change because it's getting too deep and too smelly but we're going to continue to do the layering-it works out better for us.
I have not yet added the ACV but I finally found the dosing, and plan to so that tonight after we change and clean everything they will have that. Should I also try the yogurt again or would that be too much?
Thank you so much for all of your help...it's been really difficult to get anyone to answer my posts yet, I can see other people post similar (or very much less significant) topics and get 20 responses by the time I get one about my poor little girl...it's discouraging! Thanks again!

That poo looks like a cecal poo to me, honestly......I think some chicks have it more often than every 8-10 poos, and it's still normal. The part that isn't the orange-yellow "goop" looks formed, so it's technically not diarrhea.

Does this chick seem to drink a lot of water? If so, the poos are going to be runnier than usual. A couple of my chicks went through a "play in the water/drink constantly" stage, and would have explosive poo...lol, sorry for the description, but it was apt! But nothing was wrong, and they grew out of that habit pretty quick.

oh I didn't realize cecal was worms?! They all drink a lot...like I said I can't really tell her apart, and I actually have noticed others having this poo too since I posted those pics. I really need to band them or something lol! But I'm hoping whatever it is, it slows down (they do seem to do it more often then the every10 poops) because it's extra STINKY! and i don't like getting them out to hold and play in the house too much bc I dont know when they're going to do this! Other than that I love them :)

yeah cecalk worms get in thier lungs and craw. its nasty. in adults they will like blank and pasty in the head.my turkeys had it a feww years back. i put diatomaceous earth in thier ration and i sprinkled it with their scrtch. eventually i guess they inhaled or ingested enough it cleared them up. went on to have them 2 more years... the turkeys not the worms lol. heres a few links that may help.

Please don't assume your chicks have any kind of worms if they have not been tested.

I am not so sure you really have a problem.

Look at the poo pictures again.. And understand that chicks produce a wide variety of poo. The vast amount of it is normal.

You are absolutely right to regulate their temp by their behavior. They will tell you what they need.

Puppies always need to be wormed. Not so for chickens. Probably best not to treat for worms without having a vet do a fecal float. Rarely a problem with young chicks.

I would be cautious in using soap to clean waterers. Don't want residue. Bleach added to cleaning water every week or so is OK, if rinsed. ACV does help control algae -- and many feel has added benefits.

I am a newbie and have been following this post! I have two, two week old hens and one of them is having the SAME identical problem. No other problems except some loose stool! She seems to be eating and drinking ok though.
