Hi
I have a 1 year old RIR Hen that is usually very active. I noticed last night that she didn't want to go up into the coop to go to bed. This morning, She didn't want to come down from the coop and stayed off by herself. She is not eating like usual either. As far as I know all she has eaten today is a few blades of grass (this is what I saw her eat this evening. I isolated her all day and is still isolated from the other chickens. She is lethargic and has runny white green smelly poop this evening. My other 5 hens are acting normal. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I have only had chickens for a year and so far, all have been healthy and active until now.

First rule out a crop disorder. Feel her crop now. If she hasn't been eating, it should be mostly empty. Isolate the hen today to monitor her poop. One thing to watch for is the absence or presence of that brown smelly cecal poop. Also watch for a discharge from the vent.

Has this hen been laying up until now? When was the last egg? Was it normal or did it have a shell problem?
