Hey guys, My Salmon Faverolle has had severe diarrhea for around 3 weeks now. This past March she was 1 year old. She gets out of the run everyday around noon and free-ranges until dark. A little history: 4 weeks ago a racoon got into the coop and killed 3 of my hens, she survived, unharmed. She was in shock for days following and quit laying. (she was a pretty good layer up until that point) about 4 days after the attack, she went into molt. I'm thinking the trauma sent her there... I've replace my hens with 3 new pullets, she has accepted them very well. She acts normal dust baths, makes sure the other girls know she's the Alpha hen! She eats her pellets OK, but really feeds a lot on grass when out of coop, and seems to water as normal. I have treated her with Sulmet, pro-biotics & electrolytes for 3 days, and for the last 2 days she's been on Wazine wormer. Still no change, VERY loose diarrhea! NO clumping just a spray of water & tiny giblets which consist of mainly grass. Other hens are doing fine, when I got them one had coccidiosis and the Sulmet has corrected her problem. Open for any suggestions!! many thanks in advance!

She is a pretty SF hen. I have a few and they are very sweet. Diarrhea can be hard to diagnose sometimes. Worms, cocci, enteritis, or a bacterial or fungal infection of the GI tract are some causes. She also may just be drinking a great deal of water which can cause watery stools. If a vet near you will do a fecal float and a gram stain to look for worms, cocci, and enteritis bacteria, it might be worth taking in a few samples of her droppings that are fresh and contain some cecal and regular droppings. Sometimes people post pictures of droppings for more opinions.
