Most of my chickens have been having diarrea. I'm starting to worry about them.
The ones that are having it are 22 weeks old, and started laying 2 weeks ago. Possibly it's the food? I've been feeding them medicated chick feed because I bought too much, and I have four 15 week olds that everyone says still need chick feed.
My second problem is that some of the chickens (Our theory is it is the 15 week olds, because they have untrimmed beaks, enabling them to break an egg, whereas the 22 week olds beaks are trimmed. Also, I've seen 2 pecking at it.)
Daily, an egg either has a small beak sized hold at the top, or is just simply cracked open. Other times, there is no trace of any shell to be found! Maybe a chicken's been laying shell-less eggs, or they just eat the eggshell because they don't like the oyster shell? I haven't been feeding them their old eggshells because I don't want them to put 2 and 2 together.
When the egg is cracked, either there is no eggshell, or the egg, other than being cracked, doesn't seem actually eaten. Maybe they're cracking it because of boredom?
Also, I saw a shell-less egg a couple days ago that looked strange... Will post a picture under this.
So, tell me if you all have any tips on these subjects. Thanks!
