Sounds wonderful! I want to turn my chicken hobby into more of a business, but do only rare breeds for selling chicks and hatching eggs and maybe breeding pairs. I'll see when I get going. In the meantime I'd love more land so I can get more laying hens to sell eggs. I sell quite a few eggs to the neighbours and our landlord and their relatives, but I want to expand. The available land round here is either not easily accessible or too far from our house.
Sumi. This is exactly my issues. I figured If I'm going to so this then I just have to start. I figured if I can get a delightful small website up and running and advertisement. I'm going to reserve my space I have in the garden to fence in a few chicks to grow on and hopefully give me time to find some space else where. I am also going to keep a load in my house. Luckily I have a sun room which is cooler than the rest of the house and it should make a good place to have a couple of large brooders set up. I'm going to be realistic though and not over kill on my incubation. I want to try and produce a reserve list so that I can manage better with funds and I figure if I can get a £10 note from a buyer to reserve it will help pay for set up costs and food in the mean time. I'm going to try and sell different breed that are rare as well as I think it would hopefully accumulate more interest but also mixed breeds that I can get to be good layers so that I have a variety also. And to be honest I don't see why you couldn't do this most of the year apart from the very cold months. Because my chickens lay all year round so I could just collect from them grow them on then ill have chicks, older for spring. Giving that pol or nearly, which could be attractive for custom. It all so exciting. Lol
Oh and I won the auto hovabator Also. So this must be a good sign!!!

Stubborn chick is still laying on its belly with its back leg out. Sparky, you said hmmm... Any idea? Sally? Coch? I am guessing Sumi is asleep and oz is off saving lives! Anyone with assisted hatching experience know what's going on in that pic? Kinda wondering if I can fix it or if we should put it out if its misery. Would this be a good question in the emergency board?
Thanks friends!

i saved enough humans for one day. back to the important animals.....

at this stage, if it is drinking I would wait. Even without water or food, it will be ok for 24 more hours. it may perk up so you can get a better eval of how much of a gimp it is.

Well I'm glad you are getting your priorities straight! Hehe.

And it's not drinking, it was gagging on it like it did when it was still in the shell yesterday when there was fluid in the egg. Hmm it's pretty bad. And it tries to drag it around. The other leg (the one that was stuck in the shell) is stuck under him. I guess I should have not waited and got it out of that shell when y'all told me.

What should the temp in a water wiggler thingy or a zip lock of water in your bator read when u take its temp with a thermometer? Does it matter if its still air or should the temp in the bag o water read a certain temp in either?
in the middle I would think it needs to be 99.5 no matter what.... anyone????

nothing to weigh with but did mark air cells this time ...I'm gonna try to be patient and wait more to candle this time too lol got another bantam egg today too so tossed it in and marked it as late one in so I'd remember that in case it was bit behind come hatch day...I came home to immigrants lol tuxedo the nn and chickadee (no idea what breed lol) had wandered over the top of their box in to visit the bantams ...time for a top on them lol
