Now I don't know if I should get shipped eggs..

you can get them, just try to find them as close as possible to avoid air travel and ask that your eggs be double boxed, packed air cell up/fat end up. in either bubble wrap or foam

OMG I'm not even going to try to catch up with you all!

News from this side: I set 15 duck eggs this morning. Supposedly Pekin, but possible X bred. Can't wait to see what's going to come out of those eggs!

YAY I set 17 ancona when? Monday! and not a single rolling air cell!!

I put my recently hatched chicks out in the grow pen last night. It was so cute. When it was getting dark I was waiting for the 2 young leghorns to go in and the little chicks ran over to me as if to say, "please take us back in. We miss you."

They were jumping all over me. They would fly on top my head arms etc etc. I just told them there big chickens now. LOL

You can most certainly tell the difference when hatching your own compared to hatchery or any other chicks you buy some place else. They seem to bond with you more when you hatch them. I guess your the first thing they see when hatched.

Thanks Sally. They are so stinking cute I can barely stand it. I've been researching genetics, etc but it's all a little confusing to me at this point.

UPDATE on two ***** in my livingroom! still needs the toe taped, its just the middle one now has just a slight curve and the other still chooses head angled but is fine! UNFREAKING BELIEVABLE to be honest I cant believe it!

Last night black betty freaked on Harmony as she went to pick up a chick! she fluffed up HUGE and growled at her so much
Harmony ran screaming crying to me! I watched it all happen too! OMG she was terrified broody! Holy molasses!

My eggs didn't come yet <insert tapping fingers here please> and don't say which ones!

Wash them. You should've seen the duck eggs I set last time. They were so stained, it was obvious from having had poo washed off them and they all hatched.
