I read about a three year old kid who surviced on McDonalds ketchup packs for 2 weeks while his mom was in jail and social services forgot. tell your kids to find something if calzone is not enough
OMGAWD!!!!!!!!!!!! wtheck is wrong with people and what makes you think I am going to jail?

Quote: yes the are bad if they are rolling or bubbly, most times you can get a "loose" cell to hatch. I suggest you read the shipped egg section, and the malposition section in the Hatching 101 article. If they are loose or rolling set upright, and day 18 if they are reattached or not jello like you can lay them for hatch.

I read somewhere how to tell where the air cell is in a round egg! and for the life of me I cant find it! I don't remember if it was float or lay and see which end stays highest on level surface! sorry I cant help! perhaps you should just lay them and turn them a few days and candle again and then you can see them. GOOD THING is that you cant see them means the eggs are fresh! YAY!
I am now the proud owner of, a light sussex, easter egger, maran and brown leghorn. Going to farmers mharket on saturday is dangerous

you didn't just say that on this thread did you? REMEMBER there are THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of people who hatch and have great hatches, just most times this thread helps those who need help and we try to post our good hatches as we go to show you how it all goes down! We all have the good the bad and the ugly!
Ok fingers crossed i have seemed to have got it within .2c of 102/98c hopefully it wont fluctuate but im not sure i will get any sleep tonight. I'm hoping It will stay like this, am keeping a hawks eye on it.

for the new chickies - pretty baby silkies sally

and i hope your headache gets better !! DH has had a headache for about 3 days now and nothing is touching it at all

My brahmas are growing so fast lol and i have a nn abd mysetery chick that escape and get in the brooder with the bantam babies or sit atop their brooder

chicadee and tuxedo on top of their brooder ... i have to clean the top and inside today for some reason lol

My eggs in the bator are staying at 101.8 still and look good .. gonna candle tonight ... thinking if their is no growth in the duck eggs ( i know they take longer) i am gonna pull them so i dont risk exploding big eggs splashing onto little eggs and making a mess and growing bacteria ....
Is that a turken or what silver I forget? I want a turken again! Just one is all!
I know you all incubate chickens but when you lockdown on day 18, so it's 4 days before hatch? So if my duck eggs are due on the 15th then would I put them in lockdown today the 12th or tomorrow the 13th?
TODAY is the 13th!! LOCKTHEM DOWN!
Caffeine causes vasoconstriction. It is the ingredient in excedrin that makes it a good headache pill as many headaches are from vasodilation. Headaches that are persistent must be evaluated by a doc. There are lots of causes - some very serious.

Many people drink buckets of coffee at work then don't have any on the weekend and end up with a withdrawal headache. It happens to me too.

Even though the brain is only a few pounds, it uses 20% of all the body's energy requirements - so sometimes a sugar drink can help - the Frappuccino will give you both the sugar and the caffeine.

Dehydration can cause headaches as well.
oh wow! I always have headaches almost every day, and then I get days like today where they just don't stop no matter what. I think it has to do with allergies too though.
How do I clean an egg if I do not have any egg cleaner???????
hu.gif
I don't clean my eggs, how dirty are they? I think oz cleaned his??? oz
frow.gif
Hi Sally- hope you are feeling better.....ducking out again for Noelle to use puter
Hi CF!

I did read here somewhere to use a little sandpaper to clean them if really dirty. With them being porous, I think I would be afraid to wash with water

ETA: I was trying to find the post
here is an article on sanding eggs - not for cleaning but same principle

applying a solution of diluted betadine after makes a lot of sense as you remove the bloom

Yes, that is my sweet baby. She is 13, and Autistic. Her b-day is in Nov, actually, but we just loved that name, it is a beautiful name!!!, We chose that spelling for the same reason.....small world
big_smile.png
I am the Christmas baby in the fam.....7 days b4- exactly one week!!! Oh My, My first husband has a French background (not my current DH, (we are not married) ) So, my last name still.......Janvrin
If you don't mind I would maybe like to ask you a few questions. Muy 3 ur old might be autistic, she is going for a hearing test at the hearing center on the 25th then she will have have speech therapy no matter if if she has a hearing issue or not since she only speaks maybe 4 words and then she will have more exstensive testing after the hearing results come back. So if that's ok I would be great to have someone to talk to about it?

ok! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO if I dont hear from anyone on here in like 10 mins I gonna wash my dirty eggs in warm running water using a new sponge, dry quickly.... maybe blow dry on cool.... maybe not
he.gif
???????? I have four eggs... cost me $$$$$ and I cant believe she shipped me dirty eggs!!!!
barnie.gif
and it is poo not dirt so I NEED to get them clean.... I think..... and once I put them in the bator... should I .... hummmm.... I mean 'CAN I' wrap the sides in papertowel or tissue to prevent them from touching my other eggs....... VERY dissapointed in them!!!! but I do not want them hurting my other eggs but I paid way too much to toss them

I'm not an expert, but am always happy to share my own experiences. I have a friend who raises peregrines and followed his advice on egg washing. He washes everything that goes into his incubators. I also spoke at length with my avian vet and she agreed it shouldn't hurt to try. I used water at 105 F (must be warmer than the egg so that it's not drawn in, but not too hot), and added some F10 disinfectant. I'm sure you could use plain water here, if nothing else. I submerged eggs and gently, with gloved hands, wiped the surface of the eggs to clean them. It doesn't take much pressure to wipe gunk off. After that, I laid them on a clean towel to air dry, then put them into a clean carton to settle. I've been washing everything that comes in. Can't comment on hatch rates because I haven't done enough and I'm only now incubating with a reliable (IMO) incubator.

Last couple shipments I've received contained eggs that the seller knew darn well had no business being boxed up and sent.

Got two dozen eggs to candle tonight. They made it to day 9 unmolested. I get a gold star, right?

YES it sucks! but I timed it, it only takes 1.5 minutes if I do it nicely! so I guess I overreacted with that yes!!! May I suggest a cake cooling rack in your bator to help with the bottom row of eggs getting the even temp?

I don't clean my eggs, how dirty are they? I think oz cleaned his??? oz I sanded and sprayed with diluted betadine (and got a refund on the eggs)

I agree wholeheartedly. There's no excuse for sloppy shipping. Or really, sloppy anything given the price of some of these eggs. Last couple shipments I've received contained eggs that the seller knew darn well had no business being boxed up and sent.

Yea... soooooo, not feeling real comfortable with sanding these TINY eggs........ and on that note

I need to say something to the breeder ... I paid more for these four eggs than I have ever paid for eggs and they are by far the worst I have ever recieved!!!
rant.gif

1st) eggs are TINY!!!!!!!!!! and they certainly do NOT look like the LF eggs she claimed them to be..... they look more like mini bantam eggs
2nd) the are DIRTY!!! two are VERY dirty, one is kinda dirty and one is clean
3rd) TINY eggs, DIRTY eggs, EXPENSIVE eggs, and NO EXTRAS ( would not be a big deal if they were clean and the right size)

I dont want to be mean, or disrespectful, it will do no good.... but I am VERY, VERY VEXED and dont know how to handle this.... am I overreacting?????
What do I say and how do I say it???????????

Your not overreacting at all, you should complain and explain the issues you have with the eggs over the phone or in an email, ask for either a refund or more eggs of better quality. In future its best to have a list of questions prepared for the seller when buying eggs such as how do they package them? Do their hens lay them in nesting boxes or just the ground outside?, how old are the laying hens, will they write the laying date of each egg on them with pencil e.t.c. :)

Love and support will get her through. It can be tough at times. I've got Asperger's, not diagnosed until later in life. It was a nightmare growing up with everyone thinking I was just not that bright. They didn't have a name for it. It's not that, our brains just work differently.
