Quote: I don't know perhaps sumi will know more.... maybe this has been a freak of it.... I am worried too because the stupid rooster keeps trying to squirm in the nest box on the other broody cochin to have fun and he is huge and he will crush the darn marans eggs. And she is mean as heck and wont let me near her so I cant move her alone or without armor. I hate that I even did the broody thing its been a nightmare, its easier in the bator! I know they are safe with me even if I loose electric!

Well, I went out to get the goose eggs and duck eggs and the goose was on the nest so I gathered some chicken eggs and just put 5 turkey eggs and 36 chicken eggs in a bator. I will move the turkey eggs to another bator in a week fill it with some shipped eggs I have coming.

whatcha gonna do with all those little ones?

I just candled and put 20 out of 24 ekfarms eggs in lockdown with an unnamed shipper who I got one egg from that was good out of 14. That egg is worth 45 dollars. I added water to the troughs and locked down 21 blue Laced Red Wyandotte shipped eggs. I had one or two that looked a little funny but I left them. I also candled another 41 eggs and removed 16. 12 of them were from one shipper who is making it up to me. The other 4 were from my Wyandottes. So I will lockdown 4 more Blue Laced Red Wyandottes tomorrow along with 21 of my eggs. I may have some Buff Blue Laced mix in mine as I have two buff Oprington Hens in the pen with my BLRW rooster and two BLRW hens and two Golden Laced Wyandotte hens.

It got to 89 here today. My house was above 80 when I got home and my bators were from 100 to 104. I turned the air on for the first time this year and went and celebrated my dads 76 birthday with him and when I got back. The bators that were supposed to be 102 were at 100. The forced air bators with the shell held the temp through the heat and through the cool down. I am going to have to watch and adjust all evening and most of the night in the other two with the new setting in the house.............................It never ends. Be glad when I pick up the project and get it working.

I am getting ready to put 11 geese eggs, 3 duck eggs and 5 turkey eggs in a bator as soon as it gets to the right temp and holds it.
Well crap. Today is Tuesday. I went into lockdown a day early. I will be turning eggs until tomorrow evening..........................sigh

Quote: Ive got lots of room. I have a two story barn that not being used and another barn that I have a very large coop made up. I plan on keeping the ones I want for breeding purposes and then selling the rest. I have a rather large market for chicks and chickens. I can always take them to the chicken auctions too.
cool!

Its candling day for me - day 7 - i will have to wait for dark. I have greenfire line basque and swedish flower hen eggs that I have a buyer for every one that hatches so here's hoping for a record hatch on shipped eggs.
