Sally, break down your definition of adjusting humidity at high elevation 1. What do you consider high 2. What is the need for higher levels of moisture at elevation before lock down 3. Since o2 levels above 4500 asl are noticeably lower will this increase hatching times and delay embryonic growth ??? Just throw a smak down my way if these are stupid questions ,,,,,

Morning all. Got woken up early by my phone and to add insult to injury it was bad news. Heide died more than a month ago

That's what I got for paying and trusting our "friends" to take care of my chicken. Lesson learned.
That really sucks! Sorry Sumi!

Quote: Awww....So jealous!!! I've come to the conclusion that I'm not meant to have ducks! In February I placed an ad for Call Ducklings. Got a reply from a local lady saying she would probably be setting eggs in March. Got the call in March that they had been set, and hatch date was April 13th. That day came and went, with no call back on progress or anything. Plan B, a local friend on here had Call eggs in the 'bator and was going to let me have whatever hatched......None hatched.

I don't want to try hatching my own because they're notoriously hard to hatch, and I don't think I could take the heartbreak! So, as I strongly believe in things working out that are supposed to happen, I have concluded that I'm not meant to have them for whatever reason. Maybe I wouldn't have liked having ducks, and the Lord's saving me the trouble of finding out on my own.

I hatched 5 muscovy's, even with the explosion and next week more to hatch. I am overrun with huge roosters like in BR and they are tearing up my girls. So today I will be gathering up all roosters and putting them in a rooster pen and placing all the girls together to give them a break. I think I have like 6 cockerels and 4 roosters to house together, then they can beat each other up instead on my girls, they need a break from these boys, it seems like when one jumps a girl, they all do, I had to make a little home for my poor blind Marans as I came home from work the other day to her completely bald and wing feathers missing and her apron off her back, when I picked her up her corp was empty and she was bone thin, she is now by herself and eating a lot, hopefully she will get some feathers back now that the boys are not sneak attacking her.

Quote: I do and I don't want to know. I'm scared to ask actually, especially now I'm still so upset. I don't want to hear he died a horrible death. I've decided for now, though I might chance my mind later, but for now I do not want to see or talk to them. I don't want to hear some excuse for they broke their promise. They really do not have a good reason. They had enough food and money to buy enough food to feed him for 10 years. They had building materials for a huge coop and run. They still have another rooster I gave them, Blacky (Heide's son), so they can keep a roo. Why did Heide go?

TURKEY VULTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :he  :rant

Getting very tired of these things. Can't kill them because there protected here. I have my 2 1/2 month old Light Brahma's in the back, in a 8x16 breeder pen, with an igloo Big dog house for them to sleep in at night until I finish everything up in the back. Yesterday morning I was talking with son-in-law and walked outside and there were 12 TV sitting around and 3 in the pen with my Brahma's and one sitting on the house!!!!! :th  I went running and screaming at them. They didn't take off until I was on top of them. DAM% things!! One Brahma was out running around scared to death!! They are afraid of there own shadows anyways.

I have to find away to keep them away!! I wonder if a scarecrow would keep them away?? Lucky they only eat dead things.

Try a large owl decoy available at dicks or another sporting goods shop put him On a post out back and observe ,,
