Look what I'm bringing to the meet up tomorrow...

yup! Thems 18 Blue Andalusian hatching eggs!!

I'm hatching these meself...pic below


plus a selection of chicks...cuckoo maran, blue andalusian, EE's - all of them are outside now and off brooder lights
with the exception of some of the younger blues.

I so wish I would have accepted your eggs, guess what I just figured out. ALL MY OLIVE EGGERS ARE ROOSTERS! Saddle feathers don't lie do they? And do hens crow

I am so upset about it, I now have 2 to process in a few weeks and then 4 more in another 1.5 month! All that wasted feed, and they r gorgeous I should have known! the gorgeous ones are the ROOSTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP THE UGLY CHICKS THEY BE GIRLS lol DH was like, who is crowing didn't we process all the roos except silkie and brahma coop? I said yea @#$@$! No wonder they are all fighting with each other all the time.

Here are a few of the chicks that were hatched. They all sold yesterday. A guy came by and bought all 17. Told him about this forum.

what are these RIR? they are beautiful chicks! I need me some don't I? well don't I?

I have a problem but DH doesn't think I do, so it don't matter right?

OK now I have a question about that dang fermented feed. Now I'm not sure how strong it is suppose to smell. I mixed up a batch in a 5 gallon bucket and only after 3 days it smell so strong that I throw it in the ditch. Was afraid to feed it to anybody. Don't really know how strong of smell it's suppose to have. Here's what I did. Maybe you can see what went wrong.

1) used chick starter. Not the best stuff, but I bought a bag to try. Never again. Has too much dust in it.

2) Had a bucket I bought from Lowes. Just a plastic Clemson University 5 gallon bucket. Noticed TSC has buckets that is food grade and BPA free.

3) Didn't have any more ACV. Used the last to put in chicks water. So just used hot tap water.

4) was stored in my room with a very old light T-shirt over it.

Again, I'm just not sure how strong it is suppose to smell. Don't want my 2-3 month olds falling over dead!!

Wait no ACV with mother in the bucket????

Why would I be mad at you? You did nothing wrong. I'm the one who brought home a turkey, haha.

I feel so bad for her. She has been de-beaked and her toe nails have been removed. She's had a rough life, but even so, she's is incredibly sweet and friendly.

8 : ( with the plans of keeping 3 or 4 in the layer pen for color. I think I may just put these crested cream legbar hens in the layer cool when they are big enough, I have 2 from Jan hatch and a few in the bator, heck if I get a roo I can keep him in the layer coop and still be able to sell CCL eggs! It still woulda been nice to have olive eggs : (

And OZ the 2 blue eggs I kept from that "ebay seller" only one is viable and its a blue green egg. how are yours coming?

The BBS Brittish Orps were a bust 7 clears, 4 blood rings 1 early quitter
The 4 from 4 mottle houdans look great as do 7/12 blue Polish
one seller 15/18 swedish flowers are good. the other has 16/24.
basques are 8/12
spitz were a bust - mostly clear, early quitters. there is one alive in the bator but looks a week behind the others in development.
