Wondering about that with these young eggs lil Lucas put in the bator...... does that mean that the chickens will be smaller than they should be? I dont know, I wondered but never researched it! He also put two or three double yolkers in the bator, I couldnt say no, but I really need to research that too... I am praying they are not fertile and be done with it, so he doesnt freak with a bad outcome lol bad momma eh???
You can hatch pullet eggs, but it's not recommended. I've heard you'll end up with smaller chicks. Haven't done it myself, I usually wait for "normal" eggs before I incubate them. And I would not try to incubate a double yolker. The odds are too small. I'd hate to have them develop and then die

Quote: How long technically till NOT considered pullet eggs anymore.... They seem of nice big size, and I was actually wondering since they only started laying after 6 month if they sorta bypassed the early pullet laying stage??? interesting isnt it??

Well so far my chicks seem normal size. As big as and as rowdy as the chick from the bigger egg. The rest of the bigger eggs are hatching today. I woke up to 4 chicks and 5 eggs pipped. I have one egg that has not done anything. I had considered putting them in cut down egg carton so that the first chicks could not play soccer with them. Wish i would have now.

Usually after the first few, say 3 or 4 eggs. Some of my hens went from dinky little practice eggs straight to huge double yolk eggs though!

Will you check out these videos!!! her is a snip of part of it.... CHECK OUT THE HATCHERY TEMPS AND HUMIDITY~ hmmmmm

there are a bunch of videos this is the first I am watching.....

Hey everyone...my name is Kelly...from Canterbury NH, we are getting our incubator ready tonight and running it for 12 hours first. I am going to post videos on youtube of the progress, if anyone wants to check them out if your bored. This is my channel

Just curious where the air sacks should be in a normal healthy egg if it matters before incubation? I can see a circle in the fat end of the egg. Is this ok?

Hi Kelly! Glad you joined us!! Yes its air cell should be in the larger end!

AIR SACK CANDLING: Track the air sac with pencil tracings when you candle, @ 7, 14 & 18th days to make sure the air sac is growing at the right rate. I will refer to this site https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/491013/goose-incubation-hatching-guide-completed as a pictorial guide for candling.

BTW all this info is in the article Hatching Eggs 101 in my signature when u need to refer to it... threads get long and chaotic!

The little bator terror. I had to sneak the four out. One of them was pecking on the just hatched chicks and the other chicks toes. I have 4 eggs zipping now. The last egg that had nothing going on is also pipped.

I lied. 5 just hatched. I had to open the bator for a quick breather. The humidity was up to over 80% with all of them hatching at once. My last egg looked like it was working on zipping. Will be very happy to get the bator cleaned out and put up this evening. Oh and my blood pressure can return to normal.
