It's a bit sad, but it was the first chicken related one that I found.

14 chicks this morning. Still 13 eggs. I had to assist the chick that pipped the wrong end. It never made it out and the white membrane was all dried up. I wet everything down and then peeled it out. I have a few pips on the remaining 13 eggs. Will start investigating after church by candling on the ones with no External pips. It's day 22.

Still no zipping... Hasn't peeped, but I do see movement. I think he may need assisting. It's been 36 hours. The outer membrane around the pip hole is brown, so every few hours I open the bator and put a drop of water on the membrane.
My little sister said she could have sworn she heard the duck peeping like crazy last night, but I wasn't in the room, so I am not sure if that is true.

Yup investigate that membrane

Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful mothers.
I made my mom a clay chicken to put in our dining room, since we have all sorts of country stuff. So I make a clay chicken and 2 chicks.

Just started a zip for him. He was banging his beak on the shell, but making no further process. I went about 1/6 of the way around the egg. He's back in the bator now. There was no blood, but I just wanted to see if he can do the rest now.

So far behind. I woke up this morning and freaked because forgot to plug the light back in for the brooder chicks. Ran out and checked and they are fine. Nearly 3.5 weeks so they have body mass and some feathers to help keep them warm. The thing that triggered my memory for the brroder chicks was a dream that my broody rejected her chicks. So I checked on her and found a broken bloody egg and all but 2 eggs were cold. So the bator is running with some of her eggs in it. Today is day 18 for her. I will make a decision on the rest of her eggs later. I think she is pretty weak. She seemed pretty unsteady when I was moving her and checking eggs. So She might get some special food later as well.

Well stupid me forgot and have dead brahma chicks!! I am so stupid and I was up until late last night stupid me!!! tonight I have an alarm set! they want it freezing again! uggggg

This is getting bad. I sprayed Neem Oil on them and it seems like there more now. Guess I'm going to have to dump that out and put liquid sevn in there. I have to put my small chickens in that house tonight.

Ever time I do anything in there they are getting all over me!! DAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do believe these are mites, right??? I thought they only came out at night. Or maybe it's the Neem oil thats bring them out. This is only a 2" section. There every where. Just from one night with that rooster in there.

I'm also going to get those Ortho Home Defense MAX No-Pest Strip. Hang them up in there. Have to do something.

This is pretty simple, right??? I hook the power supply to the power supply. I hook the sensor to the sensor and I hook the heater to the heat??? Correct????
