Thinking of you, so sorry.

Thanks. It was a beautiful day today. Started my day off with a walk to the back pond that only a few days ago was nearly empty of water and covered in green slime and today is nearly over flowing. Saw a few snakes and had to drag the dog away before she got her self snake bit. Then lunch with family. Then coop clean out started. I cleaned out the grow out pen. Started on the blacks coop but it was not nearly so bad. So think I will run with it. The big coop is still needing to be cleaned. I moved a broody and 15 eggs to a dog crate. All but 3 eggs out of her 18 were developing. 2 were probably todays from the other2 hens and one looked dead. The rest of her 15 eggs are anywhere from 14 days to 4 days incubation. So next weekend I will probably need to fire up the bator for her stragglers.

Anyway that was my day of clean up in a nut shell. Off to bed as I am not used to doing the heavy stuff and wet sand is very heavy.

Goose-lynn appears ill... She stopped walking, she's breathing heavily, closing her eyes, and shivering (at 97 degrees).

How lovely Sally :)

if the old bator don't hold temps then keep them in this bator. Just don't up humidity until you see the first external pips. don't turn them, they will be fine the important turning period is the first 10 days. I think the wacky temps would be worse than anything plus you said your cells are large anyways right?

I would try to separate the 2 batches with a piece of chicken wire or something so that the hatching chicks don't bother the other eggs.

Keep the humidity at 60% plus.

You can turn the polish eggs by hand until you see an external pip.  Once you see an external pip, don't open the incubator. The polish eggs will be fine if you don't turn them for a day.  If you're worried, and your incubator is able to gain back humidity fairly quickly, then you can turn the polish eggs as normal throughout the lockdown of your hatching eggs.

Thanks cochin. I am down to two polish eggs now. I will leave them where they are.

I hope your gosling is ok.

Quote: O.K. I was wondering, because I used to keep budgies myself and we sexed them by looking at the cere. It has been quite awhile though, since I had babies! They are adorable little birds. So cheerful and chatty.

OK bare with me here!!! Now I don't think the hen is egg bound. I soaked her in warm water 20 mins. Didn't do anything. Then I put on a rubber glove and put baby oil around her butt and in her butt. Yea boy. Never had a finger in a chicken butt before.

When I pulled it out she pooped yellow and chucks of green poo. NOW thinking about this, I been feeding them green grass that I have been pulling from the garden! They don't have grit, one because they eat crumbles , well fermented crumbles now and 2 it's so rocky I figured they could get enough small rocks. But maybe not!!! Could that be it. Seems more likely to me. Because I still couldn't feel an egg even with my finger up both her wholes, should say tubes. That just sounds bad, sorry.

I put her in separate cage with electrolyte's in her water and feed. She IS drinking. Maybe I just had to unplug her??? Maybe???
Ehh, did you examine her vent while you were at it? How is she now?
