MarineCorpFarmr - I tried to use a 12v fan from an old CPU and spliced it in before the thermostat and it blew the fan. Any suggestions? Is a 120 higher voltage? Excuse my ignorance... I am definitely not an electrician. Some sites say it is better not to have a fan the last three days. Silver1313 - do you have a high hatch rate with no fan?

120v is wall outlet voltage. If you tried to put 120vac to a 12vdc fan its cooked. 120v fan you could wire directly in without having to use a transformer.

my first hatch with my own eggs was 9/14 and 3 of the 5 that did not hatch were not fertile i thought it was a good rate. Hatched 2/4 ducks.

We candled tonight! It is day 8 for us....4 out of 5 have veins! It is so exciting...I kept the other egg in ...maybe it will change?

Now one egg has less veins then the rest..is that ok? When will be acually see movement and real chicks?

Thank you....they look just like that

Rockashelle:

While I applaude your go-get-em style - you need a 101 on electricity. Wiring 12 volt devices to 110 can harm you, your family but most importantly, your bator. Please don't harm a poor innocent bator. What if you were electrocuted and fell on your hatching eggs?
