DOH? Why Sal? And actually it was 99.5 like the thermometer said.....(why because I didn't want my chicken wife=YOU to yell at me) Chad scans....way too much to read Why read when I can call and pester you? Chad is ready for a bird break...unless I happen to stumble on some peacock or fancy pheasant eggs...

And the baby chukars are doing very well. One may not make it. I felt a part of me clench looking at that. I bet that really smarted! Yeah they can sell like hotcakes! . Thanks!!!! Eggies in lock down. Humidity at 80% and holding! I weighed my eggs before lockdown and I got ranges of 11% to 15% loss so the average is 13% so I should be good right? I am hoping for girls. My pretty buff orp that i thought was a hen turned in to a roo while we were away...

I have a lot of tractor coops and have thought of combining some.... if I ever get down to less chicken breeds-colors that is .........doubtful!!!

I am dyeing just waiting to candle my first hatching eggs for the first time tomorrow! I have no idea how many might be fertile or not But tomorrow is day 7 for batch 1. The candler that came with my bator is worthless, but I made one tonight that should work

I don't know how I missed this. I should if west into lockdown last night. Today is day 19. I just went to lockdown and found 4 fluffy butts sitting on top of the turner. They must of hatched last night. I immediately removed the turner and put everything back in. I never even raised humidity. Temp was 99 and humidity was 38.

Put together a grow out area in my juvenile coop today. Its possible (though unlikely) I will have 66 chicks all hatching or arriving in the span of a week. Hoping this will work, LOL! Still need to add bedding, feed etc. So far my cream legbar and blue isbar chicks think its theirs, LOL!

I don't know if its because perhaps the eggs have started to generate some of their own heat or what... but all day today I have had the hardest time maintaining temperature. Only slept for 2 hours (sick 2 year old) and the temp was good when I went to bed. 2 hours later it was 102 I adjusted it the same amount I've found to work for these tiny adjustments, opened the lid briefly to let a little excess heat out. Checked again and it was on the money. Then all day long it was bouncing between 98 and then 102. The tiniest adjustment either way was too much Its only day 6 for batch 1 and day 3 for batch 2. Can there really be that much more heat already?
