Bernie the Filipino chicken phenom just hatched another 32/32 that candled fertile at 10 days. thats 88 chicks in 3 weeks.

We just finished 5 coops with a total of 180 square feet inside and 450 square feet of run.

I better plan on doubling it. we have several hundred eggs due in 13 days.
That's fantastic! Go Bernie!

Update on my eggs: Things went well with broody #2 until today. I went and checked on her this afternoon and found an egg outside the nest with a peck hole in it. Unfortunately the peck went through the membrane and it bled a bit. I can't tell if the chick's o.k. in there or not, so I put it on a piece of wet t-paper in the incubator so long. The bleeding stopped after a bit and I was wondering what to do about the hole, if, by some miracle, the chick is o.k. I don't want it to dry out and it's too early to lockdown (day 17 today). I can't wax seal it because it's right through. The wet t-paper bumped up the humidity to 60%, so I improvised and cut a plaster (band-aid) smaller and stuck that on the egg to seal the hole. Well, it's sterile at least...

And it gets worse: I checked under the broody and found a crushed egg (with a dead chick), yolk and blood everywhere. And one egg is missing. So I switched her 2 remaining eggs with golf balls, wiped the eggs clean and put them in the incubator. I'll give her the chicks when they've hatched and remove the golf balls then. She was awesome with the other 4 chicks so far, so I think giving her the chicks afterwards shouldn't be a problem. So I now have 7 intact eggs in the incubator and one plastered one. Wish them luck!

Good luck Sumi, can't remember are they your eggs or your neighbors? Happy Hatching!
Thanks!

We got these eggs from a friend of a friend's boyfriend's mom who lives in the next town over and had to be talked into parting with them. We paid quite a lot of money for them and we don't know exactly what breed they are, but I don't care about that. I just hope they hatch o.k. after all the hassle trying to find some eggs. The next 4 days are going to be loooong ones! I really hope the plastered chick will be o.k.

What are the odds that the RSA customs would open an express mail package?

I don't know, Oz. If they're anything like the rest of the officials in this country I doubt they'll do it though.

Been a couple of weeks but chicks are dying again and have been for a while. I tossed 5 last night and 7 more this morning. I had three that were showing spasms and I took them to the ditch to dispose of them and one flew back to the bunch that was eating and blended right in. Ive been treating with Corid and apple cider vinegar. I currently have a don't care attitude because of a very bad prostrate infection that has put me in the bed for the last 3 days with fever, severe pain urinating, back pain, chills, sweats, headaches, overall feeling like crap and very weak. Its all I can do to feed twice a day. All my birds are free range except for 15 BLRW and GLW's. They haven't shown any sign of sickness. I removed the Buffs from the cage and the Buffs died around the cage. I don't know if they never ate or drank or what. I suspect 45 to 50 lost birds the last two weeks. Im going to start toltrazuril today at feeding time and whatever lives will live and whatever dies goes into the ditch. IVE NEVER HAD CHICKENS DIE> Maybe one here or there but not in mass. Im not losing any that are over 4 months of age.

Anyway, I thought I would check in and I have a pic of my wife and I on my facebook page. They are showing her belly. Oct 11 is the due date. Ill try to post a couple on here.
