karma at its best

I just found out that a breeder who I had sold birds to is describing my cochins as her abused rescue birds. I know it's a matter of opinion, but it really bothers me. My chickens are not livestock, they are pets. My life practically revolves around them. Why would anyone say that they are abused?

So glad you found the ducks owner. People like that have a need to make themselves feel good and make themselves look good and always at the expense of others. They lack self esteem and good character. It bothers you so much because you have a big heart and that makes you the wonderful caring person you are. Never change!

she is trying to tell the world how wonderful she is

karma will get her

I agree completely.

Coch if its one thing in life you ALWAYS have to remember.... Feel and use the goodness of your own heart, live by that, suppress the bad and nothing/no one else matters.

Thank-you everyone.

I realize that she's probably looking for attention. Thankfully she didn't use my name. She described them as living in complete darkness in a filthy barn, never allowed to go outside. She continued saying that they were mal-nourished and bald because of parasites. She even went as far as saying that they were scared of sunlight because of how they were raised in darkness.

In contrast, there are 5 near by windows in our barn (far from complete darkness) and they are allowed to free range every other afternoon. I use a good feed and I supplement with treats and vitamins so I highly doubt they're mal-nourished. I had explained to her many times why they were missing feathers. One being that I had too many roosters, another was that they were molting, and lastly I had just clear up a lice infestation in these girls. They were lice-free when I sold them. Scared of sunlight? Are you kidding? My girls LOVE to sun-bathe.

I guess as long as I know the truth, that's all that matters. I'd like to talk to her, but something tells me it won't change anything.

Sumi, are you feeling any better?

How's your broody hen doing?
Sorry guys, don't feel much like talking at the moment. Dealing with one thing after another here.

My white hen went broody now as well. They'll just have to share the eggs and sort their chicks out when they come. They're both excellent moms, so I don't foresee problems.

You can have both, Oz. Seriously, I finally got this fantastic incubator and now my hens won't stop going broody?

I could start a small hatchery if only I could get eggs!

My Brinsea takes 24 chicken eggs.
