I took out the incubators and I just started collecting eggs for hatching. I can't wait for chicks again!

It's been months since my last hatch.

Be careful with the Blu-Kote. I almost killed my cat with it. He was a monorchid and had to have abdominal surgery to be neutered and he started licking his wound on a saturday morning when I couldn't get an elizabethan collar for him until Monday. I went through my medicine cabinet looking for something that I thought would taste awful enough to keep him from licking it and I came up with the Blue Kote. I sprayed it on him and he licked it anyway. It caused mouth and stomach ulcers and a UTI. Had to put him on clindamycin and bathe him with dawn. He's okay now but I felt like such a moron. It says right on the can "For use on Horses, Dogs and Livestock DO NOT USE ON CATS".

The moral of my story: Keep the Blue Kote away from your cat.

Hi Sally,

Look through the manuals on this page

https://www.gqfmfg.com/store/instructionscabinet.asp

Here is the heating element used in cabinet incubators for $18.66.

http://www.gqfmfg.com/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=115

and the Fan, motor and bracket to put behind it.

Of course you will need a controller with a sensor to maintain the proper temperature.

If you build the cabinet, you can buy all of the parts from GQF to make it just like the commercial cabinets.

Good luck,
Bob

i have thought about them also

are you building a cabinet? its about time

yes we are, I have so many images and notes gathered I am narrowing it down, I know for a FACT that we will use the wafer thermostat, but I am actually reading right now trying to figure out the usefulness of a double wafer system and its NOT making any sense to me why GFQ's and other cabinets use two basically side by side, so I am reading and reading but coming up empty, I will check R2elks links as well!

I am torn between the heat element insulator type vs bulbs.....

I think its the open wire issue with the old schoolinsulators that scare me LOL if I get past that I should be ok! ha ha ha
