Quote: Dolfi refer to the first post on the Easter Hatchalong she has the dates that you will need to set each breed of poultry. We will be having a ton of contests along the way so you will have plenty of chances to win something if you enter in them! We are organizing them right now ;)

OMG oz you can't possibly candle those eggies. You must be a true expert on this. I would love to see more pictures specially of that bator. It must be homemade and huge. How many eggies do you hatch at once. I am so impressed that I sure have lots of questions. Lol

its about 40" wide 30" deep and 48" high

It takes 6 trays each shelf - so 600 eggs when not double stacked - lol

It has room on the bottom for a few turners so if I went psycho I could do 1100 eggs in it.

it runs of a couple of halogen work lights. The bulbs are 240 volts but I run them at 110 volts which is much gentler on them. 200W each so actually about 180 wats total with voltage drop.

There are 4 fans in there.

I was trailing mini dehumidifiers but they could not handle it
Shweet.... what are the chickies with the dark brown spot on head?
all quail. texas a&m and jumbo pharoah

KEEP in mind what he is saying.... 15-16% until EXTERNAL pipping which technically is end of day 20-21  so you wont be weighing up until then, only until day 18
and like I said I think your doing perfectly, you will want to prevent dehydration of the embryo and the membranes...

My thoughts are this.....  Visually I think your air cells look good, but your weighing so I think you need to find your average weight loss.....  The links in the Hatching 101 article explain how to average? I am not sure if it is by tray or not?

Your doing your homework, your being a responsible hatcher my friend! Worry and second guessing comes with the territory! YOU GOT THIS!

Thanks Sally! Tomorrow night at 9:00pm eastern time my eggs will be at 18 days. Would you wait until Sunday morning to put them on lock down?
Sorry for all the questions.....

Quote: I would lock them down tomorrow night, But you can candle tomorrow night and look for internal pips. Definately lock down with internals and definitely if you see draw down meaning the air cell will dip significantly more down the probably pip area and the back (higher part of air cell) usually shows some bulge into the cell from the change of positioning inside the egg. If you see the change lock them down

we have 46 chicks in the brooders and 200 eggs in the bator. my march 14 i should have 200 birds between 0 and 6 weeks

you're one very busy man. How on earth do you know that they will start laying in 14 days.
By the way while the chicken are on the antibiotics can I still eat the eggs or incubate them? It's funny cause I read that it can cause yolk sack infection and I had this problem the past few hatches.:( I must have about 20 adults 30 young ones and about 60 of less than 3 weeks and put them alllll on the antibiotics. Just in case. :D
