I have a interesting story/experiment

I was looking to buy decent priced turkey eggs from my trip next weekend.

I came across a company called Valley Of The Moon Turkeys in WV.

They got back to me with a quote. They sell Broad Breasted and Medium Breasted Turkeys in Bronze Black and Auburn at just over 2 bucks an egg.

Now they are a sister company to Aviagen - a huge supplier of white commercial turkeys.

Enough back story

So I needed the eggs shipped on Monday and they on ship Tuesdays but...

One of their sales person has a shipment leaving Sat from Iowa and arrive in Visalia CA Monday. They will then ship them from there.

It will be all road. The eggs are travelling with commercially shipped eggs that must have a great hatching record or they would not be doing it.

I may set a few on LA as a control.

Well its interesting to me.

Fabulously interesting !!! Go oz! Will be getting my Wild West chicken ranch built so no more chicken mutts or dead floaters and seperate breed pens FINALLY! Hope by end of march they will be moved in.

getting kids ready and to school. Hatching is slow going. I had 2 hatch yesterday, 2 last night sometime, and 2 just a few mins ago. One of the chicks last night was a sticky mess and had to have a head to toe bath but seems to be perfectly fine. I have several more that are pipped. I have set eggs every day for the last several weeks so this is going to be the longest staggered hatch.

Now it is sitting up like normal. Maybe just working the kinks out.

IDK, I had a messy brahma hatch chicks I had to cull a few, humidity temps issues as you know. they had leg issues, either they were scooters or the leg just was twisted like, I will assume from being stuck in the shell and the overcooking in there idk, I am frustrated with this hatch, now I pushed orders to this hatch. I cant win

I pray he stays, I tried bracing a chick and that was useless he couldnt move at all then. I hatch to much to mess with individual chicks like this, just stinks because its all my fault

That hatch took almost two days for the brahma alone! what a mess only the first of them were good, and then I had one last one come out over night to my surprise is chirping away!! now it will be a loner perhaps when the last ccl go :(

Today is day 21 so we will see what happens. I am with you on not putting too much into saving individual chicks. It sucks to cull but it is part of it. I didn't write dates on tops of these like the rest so I know I might have a day or two to play with. Genius that I am I dated the rest.

Quote: LOL you sound like me! we need to buy a date stamper, stamp eggs at set. or when taken from nest..... I started using colored sharpies as COLOR CODES for incubating, then I write set red with that color and mark 7,14, 18 in the same colors on the calendar. Its working well so perhaps doing the collect date would be cool. I can even use one for my eating eggs stamp box dates

What ink do you think we can use that wont wash off the eggies?

I pencil mark all of mine. Stamps would be good but then it is just one more thing to keep up with. With kids around I always have pencils available. I just need to make use of them.
