I have a 1x2 that i put in mine. Then I just tilt the carton back and forth.

I read somewhere on one of Sally's links that 38-45 degree tilt was necessary for a healthy hatch..... Check to make sure you are tipping the carton to those specs.... if you haven't already....
indeed - most people dont realize how steep 45 degrees is. Most malpositioned chicks are the result of poor quality turning during first ten days.

I'm gonna ask here since I'm not due where else to ask. I have several ducks and goose set to hatch over the next few weeks am wondering if i should just get raise and feed my chickens that to them. I have 7 meaties and 26 layers all under 7 weeks. Can feed then the flock raiser?

That is my plan to furment the flock raiser once my bag of medicated feed runs out. I'm glad you asked this because its good for me too!

I bought a bag of Multi-flock starter and grower to give to my chicks and layers (it has 2% more protein, which IMO is a good thing), and will supplement the layers with oyster and egg shell. Don't be surprised if you go to buy this, and are told by the store personnel that this feed is not appropriate for chicks, and that chicks must have medicated chick starter... blah, blah, blah. I grabbed a store brochure that showed all of the feed options and showed it to the employee who did not want to sell it to me for chicks... pointing out that their own brochure stated that it is appropriate for chicks 0 - 8 weeks old... Her response, "What ever!" To which I say... "Duh?"

Its always best to do your own research right! sounds like our experience with the kid at the feed mill!

I've had them on medicated but I figure I may as will switch. So it's OK for chicks?

Yes, the flock raiser feed will be fine.

I used flock raiser for a long time...until I got rid of the messy ducks and annoyingly loud guineas. Just give layers extra calcium.
