I dont really look at hygros anymore! I look at air cells, and for hatching I know that I do exactly the same amount of water for each hatch with success so even there it doesnt matter, HOWEVER when I make my hatcher cabinet cooler I will need one as I have no clue how it will hatch, I am getting the following as they seem to be the most accurate....... see paste from hatching 101 article note the wet bulb hygro and how it works?

Sally I do have a question. I weighed, candled and marked air cells on all of the eggs I received last week. I'm planning to do what you suggest and go by weight loss and how the air cells are doing versus a humidity level. But I'm finding that hard because I'm day 4 now and since I haven't candled since the day I received the eggs will it be too late for me come Day 7 when I weigh and mark air cells again to make any adjustments in my humidity levels? Right now I feel like I'm guessing

. Would you suggest I candle sooner than Day 7?

what is your humidity? your overthinking and worrying already ha ha ha its ok! what is the room humidity?

My humidity was high the first 24hrs at around 50-55%. Finally I got it lowered and it was in the 40's. Today it's in the low 30's. My room humidity is only about 20%

I'm overthinking and worrying like a crazy person!! LOL I get up in the middle of the night to look at them!!

I'm on a hatching rampage!
Went and picked up 8 Australorp, 6 SLW, and 6 BR eggs today! Set! He offered to give me 24, but I only had room for 20 hahaha!
He also brought me a little buff Brahma chick that just hatched yesterday. I may name it Cheeky 2 after my boy that was euthanized yesterday morning. Oh, how God provides!

Received my BCM eggs today, they are sitting in their egg carton waiting to be set tomorrow. One was broken inthe box, but didnt get through the bubble wrap of its neighbor, thank goodness!

Still waiting on my bantam Cochin eggs to get here, they were shipped the same day as the BCM, so I'm thinking tomorrow. Last week I got my silkie eggs on Thursday, shipped on that Monday, and all 17 eggs are developing! Can you believe it? Even the three I DROPPED have great development. So long as the yolks are in tact, I think they'll be just fine. There is one with a VERY lose air cell (ironically, not one that I dropped) so I'm holding out hope for it, an will probably keep it upright come hatching time.
What do the experts think?

I can't tell even where the air cells are on the BCM eggs, I guess they are just going to have to be handled by the sniff test or if they ooze, I'll remove them.

Quote: lol you have time after day 7 to lower humidity my friend, it depends on your location, not sure what to suggest, if your room is at 20 you perhaps shouldnt have any water in the bator. I only add water the first 7 days if its below 18-22% or if my air cells are already large.

she'll be in the hospital for quite some time. The doctors are perplexed at what the cause of her condition is and I believe the only way to treat it is if they know what caused it. She told me she needs to be on House. If only every problem in life could miraculously be solved in a short 40 minute episode!

WHEW okay I need to take a deep breath and RELAX. I think i will just add water (tiny amounts) if it drops below 25/20%... some of my air cells were rather large so that's why I initially added some water. Then again, some of my air cells when they came were small and perfect. It's hard to think about how you balance it out when you have such opposites. No wonder I'm driving myself nuts lol.

Thank you!!!!

The Cabinet CoolerBator is awesome!!

Yet another great hatch! getting some orders out now!!

AGAIN I had two or three wet chicks and again running dry until first pips!
