Im confused, I don't feel confident to do it...do I just chip off enough for the beak to breath then put him back? Wont he become sticky? N the yolk sake in the other wasn't absorbed
Don't worry too much about him becoming a sticky chick. It's just a tiny hole- Just make sure he can breathe. The chick would have to break the hole eventually. Make it very tiny, and chip off the piece towards the large end... That prolly made it sound a lot more complicated then it needed to be. XD Listen to Sally, she knows a lot 'bout this kind of thing. :D

WHAT you did WRONG THE LAST TIME is OPENED THE inner MEMBRANE!!! DONT WANNA DO THAT!!! just at his beak thats the only place it should NOT be!

your fine Kelly..... THERE is an OUTER membrane that white inner part of the shell and there is the inner membrane that has all the blood cells in it..... you just going to candle and why dont you take a pencil and quickly draw a line around where you see the air cell.... if you open the tiny HOLE JUST DONT GO below that line and your ok!!! PROMISE!!
Ok...trying to shake off the fact that we basicly killed one of the chicks...now taking it out to candle is not going to cause shrink wrap? am I just giving it a hole to breath and then letting it do the rest? because that yolk...ugg I am afraid its just not ready

Ya I was looking at the photos...they were due on Christmas day, one hatched today and the other 2 started
Don't worry about it hatching late. Mine hatched on I think day 23... Anyway she is perfectly fine now! Take a deep breath. Maybe a few deep breaths into a brown paper bag. lol

You can break a hole for the beak even if it's not ready! Just not the membrane BELOW the air sac. If you accidentally do make it bleed a little, it's okay, (but try not to make it bleed lol) just make sure it can breathe through a tiny hole and put it back into the incubator.

if you open that pip and can see her beak then leave the egg like this.... up the humidity and put her back.... up to 75

I haven't pulled her out of the incubator...but will do that now and candle and circle the air sack...n chip off that small part... do I poke a hole for the beak to come out?

Yes. Right where the chick already pipped. Just a small one- not half of the egg. (I am guilty of doing that
