I can attest to that! Had a bunch of turkey eggs and could remember when I put them in the bator -forgot to add to my calendar- but I put them in the hatcher and so far last 2 days 6 have hatched surprised the heck outta me when I opened the bator to see 3 little cuties peeping at me!

Thank you! Not sure where I read the 16 day thing (may have been this thread) but think it's the best option.

Good luck w the angel wing issue. One of my goslings and a couple turkeys have had some angel-wing, even though I'm really careful about the protein content. They all seem to grow out of it as they get more grass & less grain. Keep us posted.

What can I use to help her . I don't want to lose her. She hatched on the eve of lockdown. This is a pic of 12 hours since hatch. She has been in a wet paper towel in a cup. I cant get her to stay in the cup now

Hi ladylunch!

Iodine the navel, you want it to dry out and offer electrolytes is all you can do.

hatching 101 just be careful if you do the dropper, NEVER FORCE FEED A CHICK they can aspirate, this is why I use grow gel, the little balls I can set in the mouth and they can swallow them instead of aspiration. If she is eating and drinking just add to water!

Homemade Electrolyte Recipe for weak/ill chicks
2 C. Water
2 TBL. Brown Sugar, honey or molasses
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
Mix until all dry ingredients dissolve & Keep refrigerated
You could also use electrolyte drinks Gatorade or Pedialyte, or
3 drops of POLYVISOL (liquid childrens A-B-D vitamins)
Slowly drip along inner edge of lower beak.
